Body Fat Percentage

The Body Mass Index Calculator

The Body Mass Index is a ratio based on the relationship between an individual's height and weight. Obviously, the variable part of the equation is the individual's weight, and as such the index is used to determine if someone's weight falls within a healthy range.

The ratio is however, based on limited information. As such, it assumes that an individual with a high Body Mass Index also has a high body fat ratio - which may not be true. For example athletes and body builders are heavy for their height - because of muscle mass not fat, and for similar reasons pregnant women will also appear to have a Body Mass Index which is too high.

Before using the model however, you must understand that we are not providing advice and the model can only be used for indicative purposes only.
