Basal Rate Calculator

The Basal Metabolic Rate

The Basal Metabolic Rate is a measure of the amount of energy your body requires (at rest) to constantly maintain normal body functioning. The BMR is usually measured in Calories, and it is useful as a guide to benchmarking dietary requirements in weight loss programs.

Excessive or especially harsh dieting programs may lower a person's BMR - as the body reacts to a lack of food by trying to conserve energy. This will make it harder for an individual to lose weight safely in future weight loss programs.

Before using the model however, you must understand that we are not providing advice and the model can only be used for indicative purposes only.
